Week 5 - Diane Tran

Over the years, Danish furniture has changed. The reason why Danish furniture is popular is that of three subcategories, "Discount, Basic, and Design Furniture" (Hedemann, 2). The furniture itself has internalized because of how it performs the same basic function across different locations. New manufacturing technologies allow for cheaper furniture. The article talks about how new technology is called flat packed furniture and the production to be high standardized and low cost. Due to the fact that large retail chains have increased, this also allows for competition for reduced costs. However Danish furniture internalized and paved a way for its furniture. The country had involvement with this industry and worked together to reach where it is now. The furniture also had small producers and had trust and localized learning that allow them to continue to stay in the competitive industry. The Danish people establish Danish furniture as high quality and beautiful craftsmanship. With their national branding, furniture became really popular. They also influence other furniture companies because of the high demand and desirable products. You can see Danish furniture as the midcentury modern design that is well liked and included in companies, hotels, and offices.

For my startup, I will think of branding my nation something different like the Danish.
