The types of government funding relevant to our startup about our local tour guide app for the Philippines involve governmental funding and funding from charities. My team and I hope that the Philippine government will aid us with our app by helping us fund the creation of the app. Our app should be seen as an investment by the Philippines because the app will lead more tourists to bring more money into the country from the outside. In addition, funding from charities is relevant to our startup because our app is not only meant to help improve the economy of the Philippines, but also meant to give jobs to those in poverty and create a better image for the country. The types of information needed for each funding type are the purposes of the charities interested in funding us, the amount of money charities and the Philippine government are willing to provide, and how reliable our sources of money will be. The potential costs for our startup budget are the creation of the app, forms of transportation, and gadgets for tourists to keep as souvenirs.
Similar to the efforts of China explained in Branding a Rising China: An Analysis of Beijing's National Image Management in the Age of China's Rise by Sheng Ding, our app intends to improve the national aesthetic of the Philippines through media. China successfully achieved their maximum national aesthetics status by using many types of media to focus on the best parts of their past as well as their present in order to create a better future image.
