Week 6- Vivianne Lee

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about China is its ability to mass produce due to the abundance of cheap labor that brings down the production costs. I see China as the world’s factory, since almost every product I see in markets and stores are made from China. Chinese products seem to be everywhere. Furthermore, China’s open door policy and modernization have thus transformed the country. However in order to sustain and achieve a maximum national aesthetic status, China has to focus on managing a favorable national image as China’s national image has played an important role in international relations. National image is not only a channel to wield a states national power but also an important national power resource. China’s national image benefits from it’s strong commitment to cultural diplomacy, employment of information and communication in technologies in international broadcasting and also connections with Chinese diaspora around the world. China’s national image needs to improve with its political credibility, adjustments in its foreign policy and further reviving popular nationalism. With this strategy of sustaining a favorable national image China can continue to reinvent itself and project an image of a new and better China that will reach a maximum aesthetic status.
